RightsReady USA — Privacy Policy.
Effective Date: 7 July 2026 | Operator: ICRA Justice Network (exclusive licensee) | IP Owner: Brian Hayes
Privacy Policy URL: rightsready.org/rightsready-usa/privacy-policy
1. Overview
RightsReady USA is designed to provide public-interest legal rights education while collecting as little information as reasonably possible. The app does not require user accounts and does not sell user data.
2. Independence
RightsReady USA is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or operated by any government agency, law enforcement agency, court, tribunal, regulator, ombudsman, political party or official body.
3. Data We Handle
| Data category | How handled | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency contact names/phone numbers | Stored locally on the user's device. Used only for the user-controlled Emergency Contact Alert / police-interaction alert feature. | To let the user select a trusted emergency contact to receive an alert message. |
| Precise location | Accessed only when the user activates the Emergency Contact Alert / police-interaction alert feature and grants location permission. | To include the user's current location in a message to selected emergency contact(s). |
| AI prompt/scenario text | Sent through the Workshop proxy connector to the OpenAI API / GPT-4o for response generation. | ARIA, AURA and police encounter simulator responses. |
| Support/report/legal partner enquiries | Stored only if voluntarily submitted through a form or email. | Responding to enquiries, support requests, AI reports or partner requests. |
| Audio recordings, if recording feature is available | Stored locally on-device only unless the user independently chooses to export/share them. | User-controlled recording/accountability feature. |
| Chat history | Not stored by RightsReady. | Not applicable. |
| User accounts | Not used. No accounts required. | Not applicable. |
4. Emergency Contact Alert Feature
The Emergency Contact Alert / police-interaction alert feature allows users to select a trusted emergency contact and send them an alert message when the user is in a police interaction. The alert may include the user's current location if location permission has been granted. Emergency contact details are stored locally on the user's device. This feature does not contact 911, does not contact police, ambulance, fire, dispatch or any government or emergency service, and must not be relied upon as emergency assistance. If the user or any other person is in immediate danger or requires urgent emergency help, the user must contact 911 separately.
5. AI Processing Through Workshop and OpenAI
RightsReady USA uses cloud-based AI processing. When a user enters text into ARIA, AURA or the police encounter simulator, that text is transmitted through the Workshop proxy connector to the OpenAI API, including GPT-4o, for the purpose of generating an AI response. RightsReady does not store chat history, does not use AI prompts to create advertising profiles, does not sell AI prompt data and does not share AI prompt data with legal partners or sponsors. Users should not enter unnecessary highly sensitive personal information into AI prompts. AI responses may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated or unsuitable for a specific situation.
6. Sponsored Legal Partner Listings
RightsReady USA may display curated sponsored legal partner listings. These are direct placements managed by RightsReady. The app does not use third-party advertising SDKs, programmatic ad networks, cross-app tracking identifiers or advertising IDs for those placements. User data is not sold or shared with sponsors for advertising profiles.
7. Permissions
The app may request permissions only where needed for a user-facing feature, such as internet access for AI/content loading, location access for the Emergency Contact Alert / police-interaction alert feature, and microphone access if a recording feature is available. Permission prompts are shown in context and can be refused, although refusing may prevent that feature from working.
8. Children and Young Users
RightsReady USA is not directed to children under 13. Young users should use the app with parent, guardian, teacher, youth worker, legal support worker or trusted adult guidance where appropriate. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that personal information from a child under 13 has been submitted, we will delete it unless lawful retention is required.
9. Deletion and Retention
Because RightsReady USA does not require accounts, there is no user account to delete. Users can delete local data (including emergency contact details) by clearing app/browser storage or uninstalling the app. Users may request deletion of voluntarily submitted support, report or enquiry information through rightsready.org/rightsready-usa/data-deletion or by emailing admin@rightsready.org.
10. U.S. State Privacy Rights
Depending on your state, you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, Virginia CDPA, Colorado Privacy Act or other state laws, including: the right to know what data we hold; the right to request deletion; the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell); the right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights. Contact admin@rightsready.org to exercise any right.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date reflects the most recent revision. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
