RightsReady AU is designed to provide public-interest legal rights education while collecting as little information as reasonably possible. The app does not require user accounts and does not sell user data.

Section 1 – Overview

RightsReady AU is designed to provide public-interest legal rights education while collecting as little information as reasonably possible. The app does not require user accounts and does not sell user data.

Section 2 – Independence

RightsReady AU is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or operated by any government agency, law enforcement agency, court, tribunal, regulator, ombudsman, political party or official body.

Section 3 – Data We Handle

Data category How handled Purpose
Emergency contact names/phone numbers Stored locally on the user's device. Used only for the user-controlled Emergency Contact Alert / police-interaction alert feature. To let the user select a trusted emergency contact to receive an alert message.
Precise location Accessed only when the user activates the Emergency Contact Alert / police-interaction alert feature and grants location permission. To include the user's current location in a message to selected emergency contact(s).
AI prompt/scenario text Sent through the Workshop proxy connector to the OpenAI API / GPT-4o for response generation. ARIA, AURA and police encounter simulator responses.
Support/report/legal partner enquiries Stored only if voluntarily submitted through a form or email. Responding to enquiries, support requests, AI reports or partner requests.
Audio recordings, if recording feature is available Stored locally on-device only unless the user independently chooses to export/share them. User-controlled recording/accountability feature.
Chat history Not stored by RightsReady. Not applicable.
User accounts Not used. Not applicable.

Section 4 – Emergency Contact Alert and Precise Location

RightsReady AU may allow users to save emergency contact names and phone numbers locally on their device. This information is used for a user-controlled Emergency Contact Alert / police-interaction alert feature.

When activated by the user, the feature is designed to inform selected emergency contact(s) that the user is in a police interaction and, where location permission and device connectivity allow, include the user's current precise location in that message.

This feature does not call Triple Zero (000), does not contact police, ambulance, fire, dispatch, government agencies or any emergency service, and does not create any direct connection with public authorities. It is an alert to the user's selected emergency contact(s) only.

RightsReady does not use precise location for advertising, analytics, profiling, behavioural tracking or legal partner targeting. RightsReady does not store a location history on its servers.

Where the app opens the device messaging/share function, the message may be handled by the user's device, operating system, carrier, messaging application or recipient service. Standard SMS/carrier messaging may not be end-to-end encrypted.

Section 5 – AI Processing Through Workshop and OpenAI

RightsReady AU uses cloud-based AI processing. When a user enters text into ARIA, AURA or the police encounter simulator, that text is transmitted through the Workshop proxy connector to the OpenAI API, including GPT-4o, for the purpose of generating an AI response.

RightsReady does not store chat history, does not use AI prompts to create advertising profiles, does not sell AI prompt data and does not share AI prompt data with legal partners or sponsors.

Users should not enter unnecessary highly sensitive personal information into AI prompts. AI responses may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated or unsuitable for a specific situation.

Section 6 – Sponsored Legal Partner Listings

RightsReady AU may display curated sponsored legal partner listings. These are direct placements managed by RightsReady. The app does not use third-party advertising SDKs, programmatic ad networks, cross-app tracking identifiers or advertising IDs for those placements. User data is not sold or shared with sponsors for advertising profiles.

Section 7 – Permissions

The app may request permissions only where needed for a user-facing feature, such as internet access for AI/content loading, location access for the Emergency Contact Alert / police-interaction alert feature, and microphone access if a recording feature is available. Permission prompts should be shown in context and can be refused by the user, although refusing a permission may prevent that specific feature from working.

Section 8 – Children and Young Users

RightsReady AU is not directed to children under 13. Young users should use the app with parent, guardian, teacher, youth worker, legal support worker or trusted adult guidance where appropriate.

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that personal information from a child under 13 has been submitted, we will delete it unless lawful retention is required.

Section 9 – Deletion and Retention

Because RightsReady AU does not require accounts, there is no user account to delete. Users can delete local data by clearing app/browser storage or uninstalling the app. Users may request deletion of voluntarily submitted support, report or enquiry information through rightsready.org/rightsready-au/data-deletion or by emailing admin@rightsready.org.
